Nalegaon
Nalegaon is situated on the western bank of Gharni river. The river is contributory of Manjra river and it is originated 3 km away from village Wadwal Nagnath. The length of river is of 40 km. It flows in Chakur and Shirur Anantpal taluka, unites in Manjra river at Nilanga Taluka. There is a small dam on the river near Nalegaon. The wall of dam is built in the area of Jogala village. Dam is built in mud and its length is 21356 m and height is 14.90 m. 2834 hector land is irrigated through this medium scale dam. Though the dam is in Nalegaon, most of farmers of Nalegaon and nearby villagers are directly benefited.
Nalegaon is in Chakur Tahasil of Latur District. It is situated at the centre place of Latur,Udgir,Nilanga and Ahemadpur. It is 28 km away from Latur,16 km from Chakur,35 km from Udgir and 45 km from Nilanga. The land of Nalegaon is black, medium quality and Jawar, Sugarcane and Soyabean are the main crops. The villlage has Jai Jawan Jai Kisan Sugar factory. Nalegaon is a market place and has two weekly ‘Bazars’. Sunday is the Vegetable market day and Tuesday is ‘Animal market day’. Nalegaon grampanchyat is known as the biggest and economically strong panchayat in Chakur Tahasil.
The population of Nalegaon is 14500. Veterinary hospital, govt. rural hospital, 10 private hospitals,12 primary English and Marathi medium schools,5 secondary schools, one junior college and one senior college are the other features of Nalegaon village. It has also post office, outpost police station, six banks. Near Nalegaon at Ganeshwadi one epigraphy is found of 12 century Chalukya king Vikramaditya. 12 century ‘Hemadpanti’ styled Sidheswar Temple is here. Nal king had come in this region and the place is known after him as Nalegaon.
